Question
My 4 year old was recently diagnosed with Molluscum contagiousum. After visiting a dermatologist, who cut all of the "pimple like" spots open and then scraped them we have noticed that they are still present. Is the only option to have this done cutting and scraping again? It was painful for my son and obviously the dermatologist was hasty and even missed several of the spots. (I plan to see a different dermatologist.) Thank you for any information....
Answer
Molluscum contagiosum can be treated with scraping, laser, cryo or photocoagulation.Your dermatologist should be the best guide to decide what is best for your child.
Molluscum is quite unusual in a child and underlying immunodeficiency should be ruled out.
