Question Category : Anemia
I just took my grand-daughter to a lab yesterday to be tested for lead, it was part of her 18 month check up. The doctor called our house the following day and asked to have the baby brought back to the lab. Her hemoglobin levels were low? I'm not sure if that is spelled right. I am wondering what the concern is and if it is related to lead based paint in the blood?
Question Category : Anemia
my 6 year old son's blood count shows 4.2 wbc / 10.9 hemoglobin / 21.4 hematocrit / 33 neutrophils / 56 lymphs. Accompanied by times of low activity and intermittent headaches, with pale complexion. Dr. says no problem. I'm still worried. Should I seek further advise?

THANK YOUR FOR RESPONDING TO MY EMAIL. I'M GLAD TO SAY HER PLATELET COUNT HAS GONE UP TREMENDOUSLY. HER HGC AND RBC HAVE GONE DOWN ALONG WITH HER WBC. I HAVEN'T BEEN GIVEN A DEFINITE DIAGNOSIS BUT APLASTIC ANEMIA IS A POSSIBLITY. IS A BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT ALWAYS NECESSARY FOR THIS CONDITION? ARE THERE MEDICATIONS THAT CAN BE USED BEFORE A TRANSPLANT?
Question Category : Anemia
MY DAUGTER IS 14 MONTHS OLD. SHE HAS LOW RED CELL AND PLATELET COUNTS AND HER HGB IS DOWN ALSO.THE DOCTORS HAVE NOT FIGURED OUT ANYTHING BUT THEY HAVE RULED OUT LEUKEMIA. THEY SAY HER BONE MARROW IN HYPOCELLULAR. SHE ALSO HAD 2 BLOOD TRANFUSIONS. EVERYTHING I'VE READ SUGGESTS IMMUNOSPRESSION WITH STEROIDS. COULD THAT POSSIBLY WORK? COULD YOU ALSO TELL ME WHAT ARE NORMAL CBC LEVELS MY CHILDS AGE?
